Free Will

God does not compel belief and leaves people free to believe or disbelieve.

Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. (Quran 2:286)

And never could we have found guidance, were it not that Allah had guided us. (Quran 7:43)

There is no compulsion in Religion. (Quran 2:256)

Every action we choose to do has already been Preordained by God.

To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, and you will not, unless (it be) that Allah Wills. (Quran 81:28-29)

Suraqa b. Maalik رضي الله عنه came and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Explain our Religion (Deen) to us as if we have been created just now. Whatever we do today, is it because of the fact that the pens have turned dry (having written the records) and the destinies have begun to operate? Or is it something that just happens (without Predestination)?" Thereupon, the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Nay! Surely it is because of what has been recorded by the pens after they have dried and the destinies have begun to operate" (Hadith)

Every person must always try to do what is right and bear calamities with patience.

"Cherish that which benefits you (in the Hereafter) and seek Allah’s help, and do not despair (or lose heart); and if anything befalls you (calamity, misfortune, or trouble) do not say, "If only I had done such and such, then such and such would have occurred," but rather say: "Allah did that what He had Preordained to do," because the word "if" is an opening for Satan’s actions." (Hadith)

Every effect is linked to its cause which has already been Created and Written by God.

Invoke Me, I will respond to you. (Quran 40:60)

"Nothing repels Qadar (Divine Preordainment) except Du’a (supplication). And nothing increases one in age, except piety. And indeed, the individual will be forbidden (his) provision due to a sin that befalls him." (Hadith)

"He who loves that his sustenance be expanded, and his life term prolonged, should join the tie of kinship." (Hadith)

"The vow does not bring anything near to the son of Adam which Allah has not ordained for him, but (at times) the vow coincides with Destiny, and this is how something is extracted from the miserly person, which that miser was not willing to give." (Hadith)

One cannot blame Qadar for sins, but refer to it only after stopping the sin, regretting it and repenting for it.

"Adam and Moses argued with each other. Moses said to Adam: "You are our father; you disappointed us and caused us to get out of Paradise." Adam said to him: "O Moses! Allah has chosen you (for direct talk with you) and wrote (the Torah) with His own Hand. Do you blame me for action which Allah had ordained for me forty years before He created me?" So Adam confuted Moses." (Hadith)

No body can uncover what God has Preordained for our destinies and future.

And no person knows what he will earn tomorrow. (Quran 31:34)

To Him (Alone) is referred the Knowledge of the Hour. No fruit comes out of its sheath, nor does a female conceive nor bring forth (young), except by His Knowledge (Quran 41:47)

Humans are born with an innate disposition that leads to the worship of God. To facilitate this, God has sent Messengers to guide Mankind so we are not left in darkness.

"Every new-born baby is born on the "Millah" (Creed of Islamic Monotheism) and he remains upon this until his tongue is enabled to express himself." (Hadith)

And those who join others in worship with Allah say: "If Allah so willed, neither we nor our fathers would have worshipped ought but Him, nor would we have forbidden anything without (Command from) Him." So did those before them. Then! Are the Messengers charged with anything but to convey the Message? (Quran 16:35)

Mankind’s power and will is under the control of Allah’s Power and Will.

And you cannot will unless (it be) that Allah wills; Lord of all that exists. (Quran 81:29)

A man said to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, "If Allah Wills and if you will." The Prophet said to him, "(Don't say this) but say: 'If Allah alone Wills.'" (Hadith)

And never say of anything that "I shall do such and such tomorrow", except (with the saying); "If Allah wills!" (Quran 18:23-24)

"Verily, the hearts of all the sons of Adam are between the two fingers out of the fingers of the Compassionate Lord as one heart. He turns that to any (direction) He likes." Then Allah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "O Allah, the Turner of the hearts, turn our hearts to Your obedience." (Hadith)

Mankind must strive to do what is good and of benefit to succeed and not just rely upon Qadr.

Whosoever does righteous good deeds, it is for (the benefit of) his ownself; and whosoever does evil, it is against his ownself. And your Lord is not at all unjust to (His) slaves. (Quran 41:46)

Perhaps you may dislike something which is really good for you or like something (which is actually) bad for you, but Allah knows (what is best for you) and you do not. (Quran 2:216)

God bestows His Favours upon believers and disbelievers, but the disbeliever’s favours end in this world. Disobedience delays His Favours.

That is because Allah never changes the grace which He has bestowed on a people until they change what is in their own selves. (Quran 8:53)
